This plate bolts to the top of the crankcase and is what the disc
valve rotates on. It also carries the two tensioning wheels that
drive the disk valve. The two wheels are bolted to the plate using
eccentric spindles which are used to tension the drive belt

Konig crankcases showing a motorcycle case on the right and a
speedboat application on the left. On a boat the disk valve inlet in
on the other side but on the bike application the exhaust and inlet
are on the same side. You can use the speed boat cases in a bike by
blanking off the disk valve and cutting the inlet in the other side.
You will not see the alterations as the sump bolts on to the underside.
